93 convert hardtop

Default 93 convert hardtop

a co-worker needs a hard top for his 1993 convertible. where is the best place to try and find one. he does not have a hard top and wants one before winter comes. new or used would be ok. google searches are too vauge to pinpoint what i'm looking for. thanks

finding one between now and winter might be tough as they get snatched up soon after they become available (which is NOT often)
I waithed 3 years to get the right one, and saw prices ranging from $800 to $1800.

You will find the best prices in the for sale section here on the forum...if you can find a top. Post that you are looking.

Next would be EBAY..

Also, use your search engine and type in Corvette salvage yards, or Corvette used parts. The prices, if you can find one will be the highest here. A salvage yard wnted $1800 for one last year.

Make sure the top includes ALL mounting hardware AND the rear shelf.
These Items are virtually impossoble to find as seperate items

ebay has them all the time. the gm top is the best.

there is one on there now. item number 1871339668 three days left. it is up to $405. it is white from a 90 model. look under " corvette hard top "

If you get a factory top, make sure you get the 2 attaching brackets and 10 bolts. Hardtops ordered as a factory option also got a ratchet and Torx T40 driver, a small ratcheting wrench, and a cover for the convertible decklid.

All hardtops have a defogger grid and the power lead is in a harness by the passenger-side shoulder belt attaching tower but the ground lead on the driver's side only came on cars with the factory hardtop option. That lead is no longer available so you will have to make one.

Make sure the weatherstripping is in good shape. A full replacement set of weatherstrip for the hardtop is close to $700!!

I paid $800 for my top and $400 for painting to match.

also, hear is a search link top hardtops that have been posted in the parts fpr sale section.

you may want to follow up on some of these to see if they might still be avaulable.

if this link doent work.... go to "search" at the top of the page. Type in "hartop" , search in C-4 parts for sale, and search in "archive"

I paid $600 for mine right off this forum. It cost me $500 to ship it but hey I wasn't willing to drive:D. Mine was brand new but it was green. My car looked like a chili pepper for a month:lol:.

When you get a hardtop, how does it latch on? It doesn't make any permanent attachments, does it?

Also, could this be used to make my car legal past the 14 sec mark for NHRA? I won't get a rollbar but if this can get me past it for another 1 or 2 sec, then it would probably be worth it.

It latches, AND bolts on.
It latches in the same 2 positions the convertable top does in the rear deck.

There are also 2 bolts in the rear corner that locks it down in those latches.
Then there are 2 bollts in the top of the winshield frame. These are the same connections that the coupe guys use to attach their targa top.

Then, on each side, behind the seats, are connection points for the mounting brackets that have 5 bollts each. (10 bolts total for both sides)

YES, it DOES make the car legal for dragracing down to 11.99.
(thats why I have mine.

With practice, the top can be installed in about 10 minutes, using a garage hoist, or a second person.
The top wieghs 63lbs, ans is too cumbersome to be handled by a single person.

nope, comes right off. you can take it off in a couple of minutes and go. the soft top is still on the car so if you get caught out with the top off you still have what you had before.

You can get a top from Contemporary Corvette. I know theyll have one. I think they get about $1200 check their site. :seeya

I live in louisiana and I just bought a red 90 vert that I am not going to ever use. I also have all the mounting hardware. If you are interested I am asking $800. Top is in real good condition. Thanks. Joe
