A "fix" for the hatch corner weather stripping?

I used a piece of foam rubber from an old Jandal (=thong sandal) cut to suitable shape, glued it in (both sides) with Ados Contact adhesive. To tidy it up, covered it with black duct tape that fitted along the standard stripping a few cm in both directions. The tape was shaped quite nicely to fit into the corners and a light coat of matt black paint blended it in with the rest of the rubber - not that it was conspicuous anyway. It seems to have done the job.

Saved me many $$$ here in NZ where I'd have to ship the rubber stripping in from the US.

Not sure vaseline is the best product. But this is one good application for ArmorAll. Anyone reading this thread should take note and apply a liberal coat of their favorite rubber or vinyl treatment on both the rubber seal and glass.
