Default warm up time

Before driving I've been letting my coolant get to almost 200 and my oil temp to 150. Do I really need to wait to get my oil temp up or does it not really matter?

I start it up and go... But I don't let the RPM's go higher then 2,000 untill the coolant gets to 120

I wait until coolant is 150, then go. But I don't get on it until oil temp is up at 150 also.

Except in very cold weather, I just wait about one minute, put it in gear, and take off. I stay out of it until lit does get warm. :D :D

Start it up and go when oil pressure has steadied (about 2 seconds). :) I don't mash the gas until the oil is at 150*. If I do let it warm up in the driveway I still don't mash it for a while so that the transmission and differential fluids can get up to temp first.

Excessive idling, especially when cold is one of the worst things you can do for your engine.

Start it up and if you've got oil pressure, go. Some people like to not get on the car hard until the oil temp gets up to a certain temp. That's fine and not a bad idea. If you sit at idle for a long time it can take a long time for the oil to get up to the upper end of the motor, doing more harm than good.

Take it easy until it's warmed up, but don't let it idle all the way up to temp.

Wish I had seen the tour while they were making the 92. I saw the tour when they were making c4's but it was so many years ago I don't remember anything about it.

I let it idle for about 15-20 seconds and go. I do this with no AC/heater. Then I go. I don't get on it until the oil temp gets to 160*.

I'm about the same as everybody else. I start her up, let the oil pressure settle and then go. I don't get on it until the oil has warmed a bit...

This is the best advice possible on the subject, right on the money! :yesnod:
