I saw a security device in Corvette Central. It was a lock-box that fits over the Automatic Shifter, so you can't get to the shift ****. Does it work? Is there an easy way for thieves to get around it?

The answer here applies to most any visible security device. If they want your car theyre getting it. You just paying to inconvenience them a little. Why offer a challenge to a thief? Save your money. If you dont feel vats is enough add a kill switch and hide it good. When they sell the device that blows the car up when tampered with, Im buying that.

2 words... tow truck. Unless your car is dropped to the ground it still is up for grabs.
Since most of them carry hacksaws (for clubs) they can still cut off the mast below the box and activate the shifter.
A kill switch and a tracking device is your best bet. Not Lo Jack since only certain Police departments have the tracking equipment. Find a company that uses GPS. I found one for $18 a month. You can call up anytime and find out where you car is.

You guys should probably have a talk with my dad. He's nutz with his C5. He pulled up to a restaurant, one time, got out of the car with the door open and the car running, had lunch and went back to the car and drove off. He figured that anybody would think that someone who would leave their car like that would return in a sec. So he had his lunch and just drove off. He also figured that if someone did decide to take it, he had insurance.
