Another turn signal question
My right turn signal no longer flashes. The first thing I noticed was the right side turn signals were coming on but not flashing. The furthest right tail light looked like the blinker/brake filament was out so changed it out with an led replacement. Now it lights but still does not flash. The left side flashes as normal, with the hazards on they all flash as normal, but with the turn signal on the right side just stays lit no flashing. What am I overlooking? This is an 85
Your new LED lamp does not provide enough current thru the flasher to activate the heater element in the flasher, so it won't flash your lights. You'll need to either use the specified light bulb, or add a resistor in parallel to the LED bulb to provide enough current to let the flasher work. Some flashers will work with the reduced current, but the disadvantage is that they won't let you know when you have a burned out bulb, because they will continue to operate even with a burned out bulb.
Do you like the look of your new LED tail/brake light? Does it match the light output of your other lights? You might want to replace all of your tail/brake lights with LED's, as well as your flasher, so they work right.

Roy you are 100% correct. I thought the same thing right after I posted so I ran out and got some standard bulbs. They are now flashing as they should.

Turn flasher can be replaced with an LED flasher. The HAZARD flasher (the stock part) will work regardless!
LED headlights, depending on manufacturer, may require LOAD resistors or the fog lights may need special wiring (grounding) to work properly.
Essentially, LOAD risistors (in parallel w/ the LEDs) OR special LED flashers or wiring mod is only required when other components like relays or flashers are also part of the circuit. If not, such is not needed for LED installarion (e.g., interior lighting like the map or courtesy lights, etc.)

I guess what thru me off was, in my 78 I replaced the turn signals with LEDs all the way around and got hyperflash ( very fast blinking) I left the LEDs in the back put regular bulbs up front and it acted normally. In the 85 just one bulb was out so that side did not blink at all (I’m used to hyperflash when a bulb is burnt)
