Just wait till you try to get a C4 windshield replaced. Places will say "We replace a lot of Corvette windshields". Then they see a C4 and don't have a clue how to go about it! A windshield guy told me that a C4 windshield is the most labor intensive and expensive of any windshield for a shop to replace. You NEED experience to replace one. You don't do one as a rookie to GET experience doing one or you'll probably cost your shop a lot of time and money replacing the one you screw up.
Several stones have hit my windshield over the years and only one left a real chip. The others just left a tiny *spark* looking mark, which is barely noticeable.
I've had to have the windshield in my 95 replaced twice in the past 15 years. Unfortunately there is a lot of logging that still takes place around here and the logging trucks tend to shoot stones from between the rear tires. There is also a law here that dump trucks are supposed to have their loads covered but it's rarely enforced. I agree that it is important to take the time to try and find someone with experience in replacing C4 windshields.
I'm not sure how experienced they are with C4s, but I had to have Safelite replace the windshield in my '15 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There was excessive wind noise from the top of the windshield after that. The first job was done in my garage at home. They asked me to bring it into their shop and just replaced the windshield. They didn't test drive it to hear the noise themselves, they just took my word for it and re-did the job.
I wasn't real happy that they botched it the first time (they said the adhesive probably just didn't get a good seal), but when a company stands behind their work like that, I appreciate it and remember it.
I'm guessing a company that big has had experience with just about everything. Worth asking about C4s. Some of their shops may be more experienced than others.
