C4 Safe Mode

I have a club member having this message " Safe Mode" then it shuts off? Anyone experienced this?? C4

C4 issue

This is what she said:96. It may be the ignition.Which would make it go in safe mode. The security system

did he check the oil level? i have seen a mustang that would start, then shut off and the owner thought it was a serious problem, turns out i checked his oil for him, added a quart and it was fine lol..

I wonder if we are talking about two different things:
1) VATS anti-theft system (vehicle security) - engine won't start
2) "limp" mode where the engine runs but is way down on power due to a critical error detected by the computer.
