Default Part

I have a 1987 convertible that I’m restoring. Anyone know what or where this part goes? The wiring harness is in the back end of the engine and have located the two wires for it, but don’t know where it attaches or what it does.

Looks like GM's convoluted oil pressure sensor and oil pressure switch assy to me.

There's a 1/8th npt hole pointed straight up behind the intake to screw it all into.

All 4 pieces install individually, if engine is assembled. Pipe dope is your friend assembling.

Pretty sure that is the oil pressure sending unit. Should screw into an oil port/galley on the back of the engine near the top of the engine just off center on the driver's side. If the engine is in the car you will have to take those pieces apart and install them one by one as you won't have room to spin the whole assemablly on as one piece.

Good Luck!

Thank you all. The engine is installed but I think I know where it goes now. Thanks again

Sure! They are a pain..

With patience and (as is said above) use pipe dope on the connections and you can get it all screwed together back there..
