Your top speed in a c4
"Closed course" of course...
How stable did it feel and confident were you?
How old was it?
How high does the c4 speedo go?

From 2000-2012 I had my prior 35th up to a buck-5 or so a number of times and sure it would have pulled >160 in 3rd gear.
It was extremely stable with no clam-wobble.
I have the OEM sales lit, in which Top Speed was rated at >150mph.

Around 150 in my friends dads 94 black rose anniversary edition 6spd. We were in HS and didn't know any better.

140ish around CMP.
The top it will show is 255. I had some speedo issues at one point that made it into a random number generator.

My 89 goes 140, but that was all she had. Still not too bad for a bone stock 30 year old car with 85k on the clock.

I remember when the C4 broke the 150 mph barrier in its infancy. That was a big milestone.

A number of 1/2 mile drag events (modded ZR-1) produced 142 to 144.25 mph (WANNAGOFAST events). and 165+ on the straightaway of a banked track. The car was extremely stable - tracked beautifully. I was impressed.
At slower speeds on the track (or some turns during some spirited driving on a twisty road) both my former 95 LT1 and now my 90 ZR-1, the car slides very predictably - no surprises or sudden slips - just a wee bit of counter steering and experienced no sudden "snap" when the tires gripped again (coming out of a curve).
NOTE; I don't think this topic can go very far w/o acknowledging the fact that TIRES has a huge role to play, especially when discussing stability in corners, yes?
From the "git go", the C4s have always had 'good press' when it came to handling, beginning with the '84s being the first factory Vette to pull 1G+ on the skid pad.
I love my C4s: stability or feeling "planted" on the road is and has always been a big part of my driving pleasure. We have a '69 C3 vert too. Comparing the two...the C3 is like driving a FARMALL Super M tractor (circa 1940s version).
I've never "tested" a C5. But, I can't seem to shake a friend of mine when he's driving his C6 in the twisties! I hear the C7s are better(?)). But, I can't wait to see the data and reviews of the C8. Carving the twisties is my cupatea, and it is a source of dismay to have a new Camaro or Cobra Moosetang or whatever elbowing their way to 'sit at the table with the Corvette'. Zora Duntov (sp?) had it right decades ago. Corvette should have been a mid engine car long ago, IMO.
YMMV

Intermediate
Had mine up to 112. I remember exactly because at that point my wheel was shaking so bad I thought I was going to lose it. Car has something wonky in the front end for sure.

Safety Car
1985 4+3. I had it up to 147mph in overdrive. Felt good. No vibrations or stability problems at all. Smooth sailing. There is no question it is capable of 150 mph. Although my brakes are all (stock) new, I was still a bit nervous about its stopping power.
