Glove box lock

Hello - I'm trying to help my dad out wiht his '91 - which means I dont have access to the car until I visit in a few weeks. He told me that the glove box key won't turn in the lock. Is there a trick to it? Or a way to remove the lock cylinder?

Gotta be a way to remove the lock if need be.

He might try lube into the lock mechanism and varying pressure on the glove box door.
Also giggle the key in the lock while turning it.

Assume that he's using the round key and not the square one?

Thanks - I'll try to work on the key. Yes on the round key, no idea if it's ever been swapped out...

Have your father try the round key in the doors to see if it works there. Try both doors. You can accomplish that without the trip!! If it works in doors and not the glove box then it's likely safe to assume it's an issue with the clove box cylinder.

Is the car 'new' to your father?
