88 35th w/ Crack in Dash
Hey Guys,
Im going to go see a 35th Edition and the car looks very nice overall. I did a VIN search and found it on eBay (unsold). One of the pictures shows a pretty long crack in the dashboard.
How hard would this be to repair?
Would this be an expensive job?
Is this even fixable? (I plan to take her to car shows, so repairing is a must)
How much would you say this impacts the overall value?
Any advice you can offer would be most appreciated.

Easiest way to fix is to get a new dash pad. Ecklers has them on sale right now. They were the cheapest on the internet....

I would not waste your money on either the overlay or the $500 "new" pad from Ecklers. The overlay will warp over time and does not have the proper finish appearance. The "new" pad is a reproduction and does not fit like the original. It, too, will begin to warp over time if the car spends any time out in the sun. I've tried both products on my 87. A nice used pad is the only way to go in my opinion, but I've had bad luck with getting one shipped that didn't arrive with shipping damage. I'd only consider buying one that I could look at in person and take it home with me..........

Try to find a used one first. The majority of the time an aftermarket part needs to be “finessed” to be installed or some detail is off. The other benefit of buying recycled parts is the cost savings. If you need 10 small parts to have a perfect car money adds up quick.
