Been a member here for several months but this will be my first post. Bought my first corvette last July. 1988 hatchback, L98, 4+3, Z52 and except for mufflers is completely stock as far as I know and that is the way I plan to keep it. This vette is my driver and will not be doing any racing. In a few wks I will changing the clutch and pressure plate and am considering changing the flywheel for 1 that is a little heavier than stock. From my reading on here I believe the stock to be 16 lbs. Is that correct? I have been searching and have not found any flywheels like what I am looking for. All the flywheels I can find say the same weight as OEM or lighter. Does anyone have an opinion on going with the heavier flywheel for a daily driver and if so do you have any recommendations for a flywheel.
thanks, Maverick
something doesn't make sense here; Dual Mass 38 pounds or there about; aluminum 12 to 14 pounds, my SPEC "lite" billet steel flywheel at 21 - 22 pounds, now you're saying a stock nodular iron flywheel comes in at 16 pounds?
I depends on operator. Heavier flywheel has more inertia which can help getting rolling from a stop. Lighter flywheel allows engine to accelerate and decelerate quicker.
