Do I see coil packs in the last picture? If so, can we get a better picture of the engine bay and details about the upgrade? I like it!

It was called the Delteq Opti-direct ignition. Basically a conversion to a system like in some other GM vehicles, like Cadillac Northstar engines. It is a waste spark system, so each coil fires in two cylinders at a time...one near the end of the compression stroke, and the other near the end of the exhaust stroke. Here is a pic of the coils mounted on the driver side valve cover.

Here is the controller, or the "brain" of the system, mounted where the stock single coil would have been. The company that made the setup is long gone, unfortunately, and everyone seems to have favored the other LS based setups. I haven't had any issues, though, and i do have some spare parts 😉

Spark plug wire changes are a breeze!

Thank you, but I've been a member since 1999. I've had the car since 97.

My vote is for the sawblades as well. To me, there is nothing more "off" then when you take wheels from the C5 or C6 generations and stick them on a C4...
