Fuel gauge
My friend has a 93 ZR1. Fuel gauge was between 1/2 & 3/4. He filled the tank and gauge only went to a little above 3/4. Any ideas? Has been sitting for a year or so.

He has two choices:
-pull the unit and try to recondition the sender
-replace the sender; might as well replace the pump at that point too
Or...perhaps the sender has become "gummed up" and he could run a copla tanks through before taking any action.

I would replace sending unit, fuel pump and screen would be my choice.
Word of advice, when getting a sending unit make sure it has no rust on the unit. When I replaced mine years ago, I went though three units till I got one rust free.
Make sure you get the gasket for the sending unit, and if you can get that rubber boot that sits on top of the unit when you open up fuel door, cause I bet the boot is tried out.
It's easy operations for replacement!
