Insurance on my '88 & '89?
I just got a quote from Haggarty's for <1/2 what I'm currently paying.
Though I'm sure it will go up if I pursue and tweak some of the coverages, It's very tempting.
So, what experience have you guys had with Haggarty's, if any?

What are the restrictions (mileage etc.)? Declared value?

I have Haggerty on my 89, I like that they are flexible with the mileage and storage (no need to be in a garage) requirements. I have never had a claim with them, (and hopefully never will) but in the ~5 years I have had them they have been very easy to do business with.

Have Hagerty for my 75 for the last 3 years, no claims so far
About $250 a year for 25k replacement cost, never had any claims for the last 45 years.
Guess i will have to wait for something major to happen before we can say Bad/Good.
So far i like the company, up front with their costs/what you get in return.

Thanks much for those very positive reports.
I filled out an on-line form listing each car at my purchase price, how long owned, lot parked and each used as a DD with <2k miles/yr.
I still have a copla weeks before current coverage ends; definitely will call and have a serious chat.

When I bought my 90' 3 years ago the coverage was going to add $1200 a year to the family insurance bill. My agent suggested putting antique plates on and going with Haggerty. The yearly bill was $300!!! I said hell yes lets do it! Virginia antique plate regulations are tighter than any stipulation Haggerty has (almost none) so I did it. Haven't had a claim yet but no complaints either.

Pretty sure they aren't required as a lot of Viper owners (my other fun car) use them. The only thing I recall needed to watch for is the usage restrictions. They aren't near as bad a Grundy with those but I believe they have some.

Have you checked for a quote from the National Corvette Museum? They have good rates and will work with you on coverage amounts and how/where you can drive your cars.

i live just outside Boston metro area and the savings was unbelievable..!
My total for double the value of the car was $356 for the year no restrictions on mileage or garaging..
Haggarty’s motto is “ You should be enjoying your ride not looking at it in your garage “..
I was quoted over $3000 by Lib Mut for current book value and told it must be garaged. When I asked the sales agent why so much she said it was because there’s so very bad drivers in Ma. Lol
I replied to her, are you sure it’s not because every commercial break on every TV station is running your million dollar ads.. DEAD SILENCE..!!
Well needless to say it wasn’t a week before I shopped around and found alternatives at half the price..
I forgot to mention I too have an 89” convertible with just over 22k..
Antique plates are not required and like I said if you talk to an agent you’ll be able to set up your own parameters..
Best of luck my friend and remember you bought it to enjoy it and you shouldn’t need a second job to afford the insurance..

I didn't use Haggerty or Grundy because I didn't like the restrictions on being able to drive it to work. If the only place I can drive is pleasure driving on a weekend, or to a car show, then I don't want their coverage.
NCM lets me drive the damn things to work at least. Why have it if I cant show it off to work buddies.

Use Vintage plates, I have them on 3 of my cars : NY DMV
You can drive to any car meet or show. In my area that is any day of the week... we have 4 per night here
You can drive to work, then a car show. You can stop at a store / food after a car show.
Any motor vehicle manufactured more than 25 years before the current calendar year that is used only as a collector's item or exhibition piece, and not for daily transportation, may be registered with vintage plates from the model year of the vehicle.
Vintage plates are optional, and their registrations are valid for one year. 5

What are vintage plates and what vehicles are eligible?
Vintage plates are the actual plates issued to the vehicle owner, or other original plates (not reproductions) issued by New York State, in the year the vehicle was manufactured. 4Any motor vehicle manufactured more than 25 years before the current calendar year that is used only as a collector's item or exhibition piece, and not for daily transportation, may be registered with vintage plates from the model year of the vehicle.

I have a 1992 convertible w/ 100k miles on it & I'm only paying $104 for 6 months of full coverage with Progressive. It's the 2nd car on my policy.
My agent (local independent) asked how much I plan on driving it & I told him 'every day I can including to work until it snows'.
You guys must have terrible driving records.
LOL
I used Haggarty on another car years ago so the rates I paid are no longer relevant.

It all depends on where you live and what it's insured for. My 85 is full replacement $20k+ 100 deductible , $300 per year.
A friend found that out a few years ago, some insurance coverage is not a savings when the value was 1/2 of what he wanted when his GTO was totaled.

On different note, I do need to be concerned if I was to use Antique plates, I see so many people with them, but NH is really restrictive on the use. Cops ignore them for the most part, but insurance companies diffidently will not cover if state law is broken with antique plates. In NH you can only use the car for car shows and parades, that's it...no driving to work or stopping at the local grocery store!
