Today I removed the under the hood glass lens to replace the mercury switch and lamp and discovered that the clip housing/mount is corroded and not usable. Anyway, I was wondering if there is an after market mount or is this something I need to buy used? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh, it's a 96 C4.
I would begin by examining the "good" one to see how it is attached.
Any body else familiar with this part ("UNDER HOOD LIGHT CLIP GM 8917236 84-96 CORVETTE GS2854")? And how to use it with the under hood light assembly?

I don't think that's what you want. I think your picture is of one of the clips that holds the wire to the hood. As an aside, I bought a complete light assembly from ebay and replaced the whole thing.

Thank you. I'll probably have to do the same. The clips that hold the mercury switch and lamp have corroded and are not usable. Do you know if the wires attached to the light assembly are soldered. That is, can I use my existing wiring with a used set of light mounts?
I opened mine to change a bulb. The old bulb broke while I was removing it as did the metal clip ( also very corroded) that holds the bulb. The light assembly that I purchased came complete with wire and clips. So I never got around to looking at how the wires attach to the bulb housing. If I recall correctly the whole thing cost me in the neighborhood of $30-35. That was a couple years ago. Good hunting.
Yep, exactly what happened to me. I just bought a pair on ebay for $70ish, with wires and clips too. Apparently the wires are soldered to the assembly. Thanks for the help.
