Default 89 c4 chasing a ghost lol

Ok I have a 89 vet with a l98 engine 6speed. Iv had the car for bout 4 months now. The car is hard to start cold takes about 5 or 6 turns to fire up. And idles kinda rough once running and when I tap the throttle like to take off the car tries to die. Till warmed up once warm it idles fine. Now the bigger problem I'm having is when I'm driving and go to wot quick the car cuts out and then stutters till i let off the throttle. Now once I let off to about half throttle it will stop stuttering and start running fine. If I ease into the throttle once I hit half throttle it will start stuttering or go to wot throttle quickly it will cut out first then start stuttering. Dont know if the two problems are connected or not.

Now for the ghost I have trouble shot, YouTubed, and googled this and tested everything I can think of and could find in my research. Nothing failed.

I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, pressure regulator did not fail so did not replace it. Replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor button, ignition coil, and ignition mod. Set the timing right (yes I unplugged the advertisement wire.) I replaced the tps, o2, and cleaned the TB and maf. Also I cut my cats off they was hollow anyway. Nothing I do helps I checked for vacuum leaks with starter fluid found none. And set my tps right too. Only things iv not replaced are the maf and idle control valve. Also my check engine light is not on but has come on a few times but goes off after a few mins.

Any help will be great.

You said your check engine light comes on. Have you checked for codes?

Do you still have EGR hooked up?

I would focus on the low temp fuel enrichment.
Also, put an actual gauge on the manifold to check vac. level cold/warm. Do similar with a FP gauge.
Put a meter on the coolant temp sensor in the front of the intake base to check cold/warm readings.

For sure pull the codes as there must be a problem causing the SES light to come on. I suspect it may be EGR related since the ECM tests that circuit upon cold start.

Let us know how it goes and good luck tracing down the issue(s).

There are no codes that's the problem. The light comes on every once and while when I'm going down the highway but only comes on for a few mins then goes off. I jumped the connector to try to get a code and nothing just the code 12 I think. the one to let you know the computer is working with the light. And the egr is still hooks up. And another buddy of mine was following me and he said the car was burning rich. And my car runs about 174 going down the highway. Well when the light comes on my temp starts going up. Gets up to about 185 then the light went off and temp started going down.
