I've seen them on a C4 and they look great. They actually look a lot better on the C4 than on the C5 in my opinion. They go better with the straighter lines of the C4 than the overly curvy C5. I don't know what year the car I saw was, so I can't tell you anything about the fit for an 86, but if you can use spacers with the wheels you should be able to do it. If they fit on the later C4s like C4 wheels, they should fit on an '86 with spacers, like later C4 wheels do. Confusing!
I'd get in touch with Andy Rivera at Corvettes Over Texas in Colleyville, TX (Dallas area). I saw the car there and he was selling chrome C5 wheels for C4s, so he should be able to give you a definite answer. I don't have a phone number, but Andy's email is Riveravette@aol.com . Good luck!
You can use them on your vette with the spacers. 88-96 don't need the spacers to mount c5 wheels, but yours will. you might be better off getting a set of zr-1 rims that have the specific offset you need, it might turn out to be cheaper, and, in my opinion, the zr-1 rims look much better than the 97-99 c5 rims, now the 2000 up rims are a different story, of course, I may be biased
