I just bought a 96 LT1 convertible and have had the top down once. Today is beautiful and I want to put the top down butthe release handle is not working. Not the button to release the rear deck, the handle that releases the rear of the top.
If you feel no pressure when you pull the handle, you may have a broken cable. If you feel too much pressure, try pushing down on the top as if you were closing the back. That may ease the pressure on the latches and allow you to pull the handle.
Sounds like good advice. I have never had a problem like that with mine. However, now and then the deck lid sticks in the opposite side of the release button. I have to walk over and reach under and flip the little yellow latch to release it. It doesn't do it all the time .
Re: Problem lowering the convertible top (stillthere)
If it makes you feel any better I was messing with mine for a good 10-15 minutes before I figured it out. I was too stubborn to ask for help. You can't beat a convertible on a nice day.
