Default Rim question??

Hello everyone, I’m back and thanks for taking the time to read and help out. I bought an 87 c4 a few years ago and when I bought it, it had one original rim and the other three are weld wheels. I’m not sure what they are but after doing some research I found out that they look a lot like welds polished draglite wheels. I measured them myself. All three seem to be 16”x8.5” 5x4.75. Even on the side wall of the tire it says 16”. My issue is, I’m trying to buy a rim that matches the other 3 but I can’t find one. All the dragliterims I can find are 15 inch. Am I reading the measurement of my rim wrong or do I have a hard to find set of rims?

More and more I like the look of the original 84-87 rims. You can redo them fairly easily and make them look new again. Takes some elbow grease but well worth it.

Post a picture of the rim you are looking for, somebody may have one laying around they want to sell.
I would also contact Weld and ask them if they still make that size wheel.
16" diameter
8.5" width
5 on 4.75" bolt circle

Yes elbow grease isn’t my problem. Having a full set of matching rims is my problem.

I called weld this morning and they said they have been discontinued for some time now and do not have any laying around. The guy from weld said my best bet is eBay and iv covered all corners of eBay trying to find one and there is none. I’ll post a picture right now.

JMO but the OEM wheels look SO much better than those WELD rims.

You can spend under $250 on ebay and have the other three original rims rather than hunting down a unicorn.

And you'll probably spend more than $250 on the one rim.

Are there any videos in particular you found have the best method to refinish C4 wheels back to their original factory look? I'd like to redo the mine (minor clear coat peeling), but I don't want to disturb the painted silver areas, nor do I want a mirror/chrome finish.

Seconded. I'd like to clean mine up also.

Here is a set on Ebay. Price seems a little ridiculous, but I'm not an aftermarket guy so maybe that's on par. Woo knows. Anyway, may want to shoot him a message to see if he happens to have just one wheel.

I just spent a few minutes on FB Marketplace and found a ton of Weld wheels like your in 15" and 17". May want to spend on some time on FB and see what you can come up with.

$450 to your door and you have original looking wheels - no doubt they will look so much better than those aftermarket...

I have a mint set of four off my old 86 that I sold last year. Excellent tread on tires, but older. Where are you located?

There are a lot of videos on how to redo aluminum wheels. I found a great one on the Antique Car Club of America under the Buick Reatta Forum section. I did these on my 88 Reatta. I was ready to scrap them because they were nasty but they came out great. Remove the wheel and tire from the car and lay it on something like a Rubbermaid plastic bin. Use paint stripper from Wal Mart (wear gloves), use a Scotch Brite grey pad with lacquer thinner to remove any left over gunk, use medium grit sandpaper to clean up any curb rash then wet sand with different grades of sandpaper until you get down to the real fine grit. Polish with a good cleaner wax then repaint any painted recesses and admire your shine.

I looked and I didn’t find any that were 17 inch. If you find some, can you please post a link

I forgot my size is actually 16 inch. Even harder to find. I have a set of c5 wheels. I might try to make them fit, it just would have been cheaper to find a new rim. Because my car has been lowered and in order to get the front tires flush with the fender it needs to be lifted or it will shave the edge of my fender. And I believe the back c5 rims are about 11 inches wide. I know I will need some adapters. Iv got the adapter size written down I just liked the weld rims better

(Correction) I have a set of c6 wheels. Not c5
