No sure why you are surprised. All cars depreciate. Especially when the 19’s are discounted 10-20k.
just saw a video where you can get into a new, 2019, 1LT base coupe for the mid $40's. now, that's a hell of a bang for the buck in a new corvette may not have all the bells and whistles, but still one hell of a car.
Just tells me time to buy, I see the prices have been at a fairly steady low for some time now.
They will continue to drop. New technology brings more power and efficiency. The only thing that will keep the late model Vettes (post 73 models; non chrome bumper cars) desirable at all are 3 pedals. Some will not get excited about paddle shifters.

Crazy. I see ZR-1s cheaper than CEs. My CE was totaled by a inattentive driver. So I am possibly going ZR-1 route this time. And for sure a stick if I go CE again.

this is a theory ive had too. but ive never been able to find actual evidence that the manual cars are bringing higher prices.

Automatic high performance cars/sports cars typically take a penalty on resale. Watch the auctions, you will find plenty of evidence there.
Now on these C4’s none of them sell at much of a premium no matter the options unless it’s a special car...i.e ZR1, GS, ....but you will find the majority of C4 buyers prefer a manual, particular the ZF.
The problem is pricing is all over the place. Finding two cars with the same everything other than the trans is difficult. But people dump the cars to get out of them. A ZR-1 by me sold for 12 just recently. I knew the car and the condition. Owner was getting older and wanted it gone and didn’t want to deal with the process of trying to get top dollar. Even still it took a week to get sold at that price.

C8 has no effect at all....Zs are older, forgotten about.
Not many even know what they are and are leery of parts...only the guy that has to have a Z will buy otherwise if ones price shopping a vette in general they may just pick up a C5z as a decent one is in teens....C6z in the 20s etc.
Ran into that many yrs ago selling mine
"I could buy a xx for that"...ok.
Younger people are looking at cheap ls1 stuff, imports etc I hope they stay cheap!

This....C4s just dont register on mosts collector car list as much as we would hope they d be

This place is selling TONS of them. Bet prices. He sells hundreds regularly.

If you go ZR1 and don't know much about them, i would hit up the forums...they are a whole different animal to maintain (to buy and replace broken stuff).
I'm not a C5 fan, but a guy can get a fun 1999-2000 FRC for $10k if you want a more modern ride (FRC comes with a 6-speed and the Z51 suspension package as standard equipment).
bigpoop the only way to own a Z is to hang out in that section and the Z registry....they are mostly good guys.
They will tell you what to look for...and track these cars a lot meaning whatever car you may be looking at someone probably knows all about it.

The C5 drives like a Camry, and the FRC was the poor man's C5. It was legitimately designed as the cheap option.
