Diagnostic tool
Hey guys need some help. I went and got a diagnostic tool bosch 1300 obd1 and 2 reader. I can't get it to connect to the car ecm. I know the tool works it works on my 2001 celica and my 90 escort. But it tells me to turn key on when I use it on the vett. (Yes I'm turning the key on) could my ecm be bad. And I have tried the diagnostic mode on the ecm it comes up with code 12 and that's all. So I wanted to use the tool to see my live feed data and make sure it's all working right.

I just went through the process and learned a little about the diagnosis. Code 12 means it is in the diagnosis mode. Maybe you don't have any error codes in your system to display. Any previous codes remain in memory until you disconnect the battery or clear them.
