My driver side door is super screwy. For one, one of the detents (not sure if this is the right term, the little wheels that hold the door open in two positions) seems to have broken off at some point. Also, I noticed that the bottom-most hinge bolt was about halfway out. Both issues can be seen below (excuse the rushed Paint edit job).
I thought, no biggie, I'll just grab a wrench and cinch that bolt back up. Nope. Something was clearly off, as it would not go any tighter. I backed it out to see what was up, and a good chunk of threads came with it (looked like aluminum threads?). Strangely, it still threads back in quite easily to where it was previously stuck. The bolt is clearly angled upward (i.e. the head is lower than the tip) when I go to put it in, so I wonder if it might be crossthreaded. I loosened the rest of the hinge bolts in hopes that there was enough play to straighten things out, but no luck.
Pick up a set of replacement Hinges they can be rebuilt but it can be a PITA and you are missing parts. I would get the hinges,I would find a way to support your door un-bolt your hinges thread Chase the treads from preferably inside the door out and hopefully there is enough left. If not tap a size or two larger
I’v replaced several door hinges by opening the hood and leaving the doors closed. No chance of getting the door alignment out of whack. Sourced from Mirrock or Ebay.
