Hello everyone I have an 88 corvette, the service engine light keeps coming it’s coming up with map sensor error but there’s no map sensor on the car. I lose throttle response when in gear, car sputters and lose of power soon as I put car to the floor it takes off and runs normal. My fuel milage decreases when service light is on also. Any suggestions? I read online by one forum to unplug the ecm unit let it sit for an hour and plug it back in tried that error code comes right back on and car runs like **** again. Not sure how to fix this issue could sure use some advice. Thanks
wes
I had a similar issue wit my '88. The error code was 34, MAF sensor. Local garage fixed it during a regular service by cleaning up the throttle body and sensor.
I recently gave the car some throttle on startup (I know, not needed...) and the SES gave a warning. Also a cloud of smoke, lumpy idle and then odd fluctuations in the idle speed. Took it for a run round the block, turned the engine off then restarted - all ok again. Lesson: keep foot off accelerator pedal when starting.
Don't know what code it threw, haven't checked it.
First things first try cleaning the throttle body bores with throttle body cleaner and your MAF sensor with MAS cleaner you can get both at your local parts store or walmart If you need instructions let us know...
