One headlight won’t open
Got an 84 that was in storage for 8 years. Just started driving it again and my passenger headlight won’t spin open when I turn them on. All other lights work perfectly. Everything worked on this car when I parked it in 2011. WTF with one headlight not working? Corroded connection? Bad motor? Low mileage car and headlights were hardly ever used. Doubt it’s the “bronze gear retrofit” scenario. Help!

If the above procedure doesn't solve your problem, it could be the limit switches inside the motor. Those switches are part of the voltage reversing system. With the headlights on, try rotating the manual control **** on the bottom of the motor. Keep your arm away from the headlight door, as it may rotate rapidly! Note: These switches are only in the '84-'87 headlight motors.

So I had the fuel pump die on me today while driving the car. Spent the evening swapping that. But I did manage to lay my hands on the problem headlight afterwards. I figured I’d start with low hanging fruit so I gave the manual operation **** a twist and voila!!!! I now have two operational headlights. Must’ve just been bound a bit from it’s long nap. I’m convinced that THE worst thing you could do to these (or any cars) is to leave them sit for extended storage periods without exercising them occasionally. Now if I can only get my wipers working! LOL. I guess I’ll start a new thread for that issue.
