84 Removable Top ??
I have the tool for the screws, also the slots in the rear to place the top once its off.
But i cannot get it off, i loosen the 4 bolts above the seats.
Is there anything in the front that needs removed, it seems to be stuck in the front
It sounds like you have loosened the bolts that retain the brackets, rather than the two rear bolts for the roof! There are also two bolts for the front, which are accessible thru holes above the sun visors. The bolts don't need to be removed, as they should be retained in the brackets when you remove the roof.
When you replace the roof, install all four bolts loosely, tighten the rear bolts first, then the front bolts. Don't ever just set the roof in place, saying to yourself that you'll tighten the bolts later!!! I should repeat that statement. There are quite a few members here that belong to the flying roof club! $$$$!
When removing the top, it is NOT necessary to completely remove the rear bolts. If you are sitting in the car as you loosen the rear bolts, you can observe when the bolts are no longer engaged with the halo brackets. The bolts will therefore remain with the top as you remove it from the car.
When installing the top, it's important that you tighten the REAR bolts first. If you tighten the front bolts first, and then tighten the rear bolts, you are stretching the top frame! With the front bolts loose, the top will slide toward the back of the car as you tighten the rear bolts. Then, as you tighten the front bolts, the roof will be pulled down against the windshield header, with very little or no flex of the top frame.
This is the procedure that is specified in my Owners Manual!
