Removable Hardtop
Just picked up a removable hardtop for my 90 convertible. I need the two front bolts that are installed behind/above the sun visors. Are they the same bolts that are used to attach the Targa top on the coupes? Can I use the same ratchet and Torx tip used to attach the Targa top to attach the hardtop? Can't seem to find these items on Ebay or any where else where they are specific to the removable top. Only the Targa top. Thanks

My old '92 convertible already had those two bolts for the front of the hardtop when I bought it. The car did not come with the optional hardtop. They are the same bolts that are used for a coupe Targa top and are in the same location for a hardtop. You will need a Torx T-40 socket for the front bolts If you can't find an OEM ratchet and socket, just use a small 1/4" drive ratchet and a T-40 socket. IIRC, the T-40 socket is needed for all of the bolts but the two bolts that are in the hardtop locator pins have 5/16 heads. Get a ratcheting wrench for these two bolts.

It varied from year to year if the bolts were already there or not. if they are there then they are in the hole, just need the ratchet... stick it in there and you will 'find' the bolt already in there. If the A pillar has the bolt holes then the bolts should be in there if I recall correctly. Some years used a different A pillar for the convertible that didn't have the bolts
