Weatherstrip Woes
Well, it looks my luck has begun to turn now. About a month ago, I replaced my weatherstrip. I ordered the Eckler's weatherstrip kit for $400. The old weatherstrip was a pain in the butt to remove, and it took me quite a few hours to clear the channels.
Today I got caught in some pretty steady rain away from home (typical Northeast weather...) When leaving for home, I noticed numerous water drops on the driver and passenger seats. The water was leaking from the side roof panel weatherstrip. What confused me, however, was that both pieces of weatherstrip were waterlogged. Like a sponge, it absorbed the water and poured in. If I squished it with my finger, water would run out. Interestingly, none of the other weatherstrip pieces were waterlogged - dry in the inside.
I didn't glue in the weatherstrip JUST in case something like this could have happened. My only question is why it would absorb the rainwater.
This never happened with the old weatherstrip. So I'm left with the question, did I do something wrong, or did Eckler's go cheap-o on me with some type of foam junk instead of actual rubber?

I bought mine from Eckler's. I did the entire car. It was all heavy rubber.
I was in that same rain here in Delaware. We had some pretty good puddles in the road, nice long ones, too, so I took the car out afterward and gave the underside a good pressure wash at around 50 mph. Heh heh.
But yeah. The stuff I got was heavy rubber. Good stuff.

I'm thinking that I need to adjust the window, which I'll do once we get a stretch of nicer weather up here. Another thing I noticed is that if I hit the brakes hard, water would pour in from where the A Pillar and targa strips meet
