Seems those have a reputation for generating a "drone" that is unacceptable for some.
Corsa's have a better rep for sound and less drone.
I have Flowmaster 40's on my '87 convertible. I don't find them to be objectionable at all. I still have the original pre-cats and the main cat, so that might be a consideration.

Yeah if that matters, I still have to pass emissions where I live. (Already passed for this year and next). All of the rest of the stock exhaust will remain in place.

Flowmaster's come in at least six different versions. So, a Flowmaster is not a Flowmaster is not a Flowmaster. You need to determine the length, inlet and outlet positioning, and inlet and outlet sizes for your car if you have it narrowed down to the 40 Series muffler.
By the way, it seems that 'drone' appears to be a problem with almost any muffler that has a flat case. An oval-cased muffler like the Corsa or the stock muffler seems to be immune to the dreaded drone. I believe that this is because a flat case can vibrate like a drumhead when excited by power pulses, whereas an oval case cannot vibrate, at least not at the low frequency produced by our engines.

Interesting thought. If you're right, welding in some support brackets could keep the drone from happening.

I bought Corvette Central mufflers for my 87 vert. They are made by Magnaflow and fit perfectly. Very mellow and powerful sound. I had muffler eliminators on the car before that and they were LOUD!. I bought a cat less front Y pipe and used a Magnaflow high flow cat and a rear Y pipe with an H pipe built in. I was very happy with the results.
