Default Engine Finally Back In!

My first corvette engine replacement is well on the way to completion. I finally got the engine physically back in the car. I took a 1987 engine out of a wrecked vette to put in my 86 that was locked up.

It's been a family project...loving every minute of it. My kids and wife helping and having fun. Cant wait to get everything hooked back up and take it for a drive.

You'll be back on the road again, and it's a project for sure coming to completion.

Nearly done. Just need to figure out where a few vacuum lines hook up. One at the front of the engine and one on the back of the intake plenum.

Not an easy job to do in a cramped garage on jack stands. I know, I've done a few. Congrats!

Been there, DONE THAT 2 many times! But, nothing like the feeling of accomplishment I get after completing a job like that.

I figured out the vacuum lines now just need to replace some harness plugs with ones from my parts car and figure out where a couple of them go.

One is from the driver side (pic above) and the other is from the pass side ( pic below)...any suggestions? (*****EDIT***** I found the pass side one...So just need to find the driver side one now*****/EDIT*****) Both are toward the end of the harness (front of engine) but I just cant seem to find where they go.

Ok...found them both. They were hiding beside each other under the thermostat housing.

Everything is in place however when I went to check the fuel system I discovered the tank is quite nasty from sitting for 5 years so I need to clean that out, replace the fuel filter and put in a new sending unit. So the engine start will be delayed a bit.

I saw a thread on the forums here that someone used Oxiclean and water to get out that nasty mess out of the tank so I tried it and so far it looks like it did the trick. I let it sit yesterday and overnight and plan to siphon it all out this evening. I'll let you all know how it goes. These pics show the before...I'll post after pics later tonight.
