Replacing front pads on my 1988 coupe.Being my first time for this work,I have a question re the hose that mounts to the caliper. Is the end of the hose that attaches to the bracket
where the brake line is just threaded on as it appears to be ? Also is there a seal at this connection ? Can a metal clip (squealer) be on each pad -or only the inner ? TIA
Yes, it just screws on. There is a copper washer that does the sealing. Should be replaced when removed. Usually only one pad has the warning clip, but it wouldn't hurt anything as long as it fits on both sides.
IF you are replacing a hose, might as well do all 4. I'll bet your car can stand to be flushed since most people assume that the brakes are a sealed forever system. Rubber doesn't get better with time. I'd go to braided SS hose.

There is a copper washer at the caliper end of the brake hose, but I think cv1988's question is at the other end of the hose. The brake hose is threaded, and mates to a "bubble flare" fitting on the steel brake line. Support the parts carefully to avoid twisting the steel brake line of the chassis.
Good chance that the front hoses are original-tried to loosen today and I could not budge them.Kept a wrench on the brake line nut coming up to the hose, but I am leery of reefing on the connection to hard .
Any further " tricks of the trade" suggestions?

Fire and force. Not like you are looking at reuse anyway.
