I haven't brought my Vette to a dealer for service in years, but I remember last time I did the labor rates where about the same as my divorce attorney. I distinctly rememer the rates posted as somthing like "service level 1=$35/hr, service level 2=$45/hr, etc and then "Corvettes=$65/hr. I am very happy now that I don't have to depend on a dealership garage for anything for the vette. So, what is the rate up to now at dealers? Is it different in different parts of the country?
This reminds me, I have to buy my mechanic a Christmas present.
Forget the dealer; find a local who knows what he's doing

That's not to easy way up here in NO. Calif. . very few vets and fewer mechanics that know their way around them. If someone has a line on one up this way, let me know.
Chevy dealer: $75--
Good independents: $65

That's exaclty what I've done. My mechanic works on Porsches, Jags, etc and does it more out of love of being a mechanic than for the $$$. He charges me roughly $30/hr and is extremely honest. If he disappears I just may sell my car since, with it's age, things go wrong from time to time.
I took mine once to a Dealer. Never again, I think the guy who worked on the car was an X Corvair mechanic. Found a local guy who only works on Corvette's. I would rather pay someone who knows what he is doing than a butcher at a Dealer.
Last time my Vette went to the dealer I was having problems with my driver's seat. They took my seat apart and could not put it back together :mad and that was the last time a dealer touched my Vette(1997). :yesnod:

I took my car to a dealership once cause I had warranty. It still cost me more than if I'd done it myself and bought the parts myself. :mad
I get all my work done at this local corvette shop in no. cal. now. The dealership just doesn't give you that chemistry that you get working with the same guy that's trying his best to keep his shop running and make his customers happy.
I've been going to Corvette Connection in Campbell. They seem to be more of just an install and service shop. Not much into programming or tuning :nonod:
I should probably check out Race St. and see how I like it. I might be missing out on a good thing. I'm open to suggestions if you have any as far as who to go to. So far I know I can trust CC to come through.
