Default 1986 C4 Need Help Identifying Engine Mods

I recently got an 86 Corvette C4 that appears to have engine mods that can physically be seen. It is very fast and does not look or sound stock. I understand there might be more going on that a picture can't tell, but can someone please describe what you see in the picture that has been modified in this engine? Obviously there are some Edelbrock brand upgrades, not sure what they are and the engine is a different color also.

What mods are on this?

The chrome valve covers and engine paint have got to be good for at least 100 extra horses. Somebody else might be able to chime in and correct me if I’m wrong.

kidding aside, the intake, runners and fuel rails look stock, it appears that the smog equipment is still intact and it even has the factory air box and ducting. I can’t see someone spending a bunch of money on engine internals without upgrading the intake and exhaust.

I agree with CE_Vetteboy here...everything looks stock except for the obvious cosmetic changes. I'm new to C4 corvettes but not new to GM performance. I have owned an older z28 with a SBC 350, an 02 z28 with an LS1 and have an older oldsmobile 350 but the torque monster is my C4. I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of my 86 vette. My engine surprised me too to the point I thought there were internal upgrades but I think it is just the torque and gearing that make these cars so much fun to drive.

Does your engine sound/seem like it may have a cam upgrade? Or maybe a custom tune or both?

Definitely looks like a high performance ball valve on the heater hose.... maybe an additional 10 HP.....

Agreed. I see nothing here that says modded. Maybe it has muffler deletes or something?

The tall valve covers might be hiding roller rockers. Looks like the EGR is disconnected and the air pump isn't connected to anything. Does it have aluminum heads?

I noticed the AIR system was disconnected once I looked at the pic on a larger screen.

Owner may have changed the heads, maybe some 1.6 RR under those covers.

TPI intake was just removed and powdercoated/painted, they may have ported it inside.

Impossible to know much more without taking it all off.

How much extra HP do you guys think you get from the heater hose rubbing the air compressor pulley? 15-20 maybe? Probably feels like more. Also looks like your running double PCV valves. The PO may have been METH injected.

All kidding aside. It looks like radiator stop leak on top of the coolant overflow reservoir. Better keep an eye on the engine temp. Other than that everything looks pretty stock. Is it a manual of auto transmission?

Mine did, aluminum heads too. Late in the production run.
