Stinger95: If you think there was only one, you're probably wrong. They have mates, and families, just like us. A 'scout' may have found his way in alone, but he quickly showed all the inlaws (& outlaws, just like human families) the way.

No, they don't like underneath Corvettes. It's cold and out in the open. The two spots they seem to like the most are the intake manifold (nice area to build a nest, and sometimes it's even warm), and inside. I don't know how they get inside. But they do. I redid my whole interior this summer. I know every inch of it, and I don't know of an opening to the outside. But I found paper towel pieces inside just the other day.
Had a pack rat in my subaru a couple years ago. The rat ate ALL the rat poison pellets, didn't die. By the time I got rid of him, I had 3 shop vacs worth of acorns in my HVAC system :mad The guys at subaru got a kick out of removing all the acorns, I didn't.
While he was under the hood, he at EVERY wire back to it's connector. Took my mechanic almost 2 weeks to get it figured out, he had to replace all the connectors since he had to cut them up to find the color of the wires, drove him nuts, now he won't touch the car
Cat's didn't kill the rat, poison didn't work, human hair in his nest didn't work, mothballs, didn't work. My car was outside, instead of stored, only thing that got rid of him was propping the hood up 2" with a 2x4. This let the wind in, guess he didn't like it, cause he split soon thereafter. Next fall I spotted the same one, or another one, going for the car, I spatted him with a shovel. He wasn't any trouble after that :D
I think it would be fun if they got in the exhaust. I sure know how I would get them out....vrrrrrooooooommmmmm! Flying mice.
Dryer sheets work well for keeping rodents away. I put them in my boat every winter and never had a problem. I also put them in my snowmobiles when they are stored during the summer months. I figured that one out after squirrels ate through my headlight wires twice.
