ac help
i need to change the clutch on the ac compressor on my 92 vette. Can it be done without removing the two hard lines coming out the top of the compressor. hoping to do this without evacuating the freon. has any one done this. thanks for any help Don

I recommend having the refrigerant recovered by an a.c. machine and then removing the compressor from the the engine. You will want the compressor on the bench for a clutch replacement.

You can do this with the compressor on. You don't have to discharge the system. I just did mine back in Nov. I replace the clutch and pull bearing. Took about 30 mins. Depending on the compressor, different years, some you have to have a clutch removal tool. My 90 did not, only a snap ring. From one to ten this is about a 3 if you are mechanical.
