Default Starting 1990 project

So I bought my first ever vette, (YAY ME!) it is a 90 base. I have looked up some of the specs, but the color of my car does not seem to show up as a paint option. My car is like a dark chocolate brown. Because of the color I was thinking about doing a cherry cordial theme. Brown body, cherry red engine compartment. It might look stupid, but was wondering what ya'll think?

Check the paint code on the underside of the console lid, but your car is probably charcoal metallic. It's a neat color. Red engine compartment?... I wouldn't.

Ok, thanks for the input, I am trying to figure out a good color scheme that would kinda make the engine pop when I open the hood. We plan on using it to cruise around with, but there is no saying we might end up at a car show a time or two

To make it pop, you can polish the runners and the plenum, and install a nice set of valve covers. Maybe even install a Super Ram intake. Would love to see pictures of the car!

This is funny to me in a day and age of the plastic diapered covered engines the L98 pop's like a 1963 fulie. Any baubles, paint, polishing or other nonsense just detract from the last great looking engine ever produced (In my opinion of course). After the L98 was the LT1, the first of the "sterile" engine trend that persists today. My vote would be to freshen it up as stock as possible and admire its beauty.

Working on reconditionng the leather

Need to find replacement weather strips for driver and passenger side roof

Need to find replacement weather strips for driver and passenger side roof

She is dusty, dealer said it sat since november, but there are cobwebs in the engine compartment, I think it sat a lot longer then that

So I checked the color code, U9192 Charcoal Metallic. which means the title needs to be changed as it says brown. Once I have that in hand I will get it changed.

I think the car looks great!!! It's a pretty rare color with only 878 being produced in 1990!

Nice car. Cool color. I wouldn’t call that brown though... pretty clearly charcoal metallic. People who are color blind tend to confuse browns and grays... so whoever dubbed it brown on the title was probably color blind, literally... haha!

But yes, would definitely get the titled fixed. Congrats and welcome to the club.

IMHO...Don't cheese ball your car. As stated earlier, the L98 engine will be quite an attraction on its own. A good cleaning, paint where appropriate and tasteful mods will be great.

Our cars are at the age where "well preserved" is better than gimmicks. Leave those to the nissan crowd.

That old L98 will clean up nicely. I agree with others about just cleaning it up and leaving it as-is.

Here's the L98 in my '90. It's a night picture, but you get the idea...

Thanks for the input everyone, I think I am in agreement with everyone so far, a good polish, replace a few parts with stock and keep her looking au-natural. What kind of wash do y'all recommend and what polish? I have been looking over the hood of the car closely and I am seeing spots of some kind, I want to find a good wash that will hopefully take these spots out. I also have a few "bubbles" where it looks like the paint is separating.

Not sure how well y'all can see the spots.......

Cool! Just a small public service announcement , the interiors of C4 do not like products like armor all or silicone shine products, it will deteriorate the finish of the plastic and hurt the leather. I would get a gentle cleaner and wipe it all down GENTLY and try a non silicone product. Again, just an opinion.

I used Meguiar's Gold class Leather cleaner and conditioner wipes on the leather, but not sure what to use exactly for the plastic parts. Maybe Meguair's Natural shine protectant wipes. Anyone have thoughts on something different or am I following a good path. For all of my other vehicles I have always just used armor all. I want to go in a different direction for the vette and have a better look.

The armor all will loosen up the coating on the plastic. I would use a 1/6 part simple green with cotton cloth towels- no fuzz or lint (not microfiber) and gently wipe it all off, don't apply pressure as the coating will come off. I use armor all "natural finish" for the dash, I use nothing on the plastic console and radio bezel and vents. I would use leather cleaner on the seats, they seem to be in really good shape, then follow up with some leather conditioner- REAL leather conditioner for the seats. http://www.armorall.com/products/pro...ler-protectant

Wash the entire car then clay bar the car then wash again. Then this:

As for the inside, armor all is garbage as it will definitely ruin the interior over time. Try this:
