Car is 1989 Corvette convertible. The power door locks to not work. They both slide and can be locked and unlocked manually but cannot be locked using the switch. Nothing happens. The fuse is good. Anybody know how to fix that?
In the meantime, can you lock/unlock the doors with your key? Do you hear the solenoid click when you push the lock button and/or use the key? If so then it is probably the door locks (although it is unusual for both to go out at the same time).
You mentioned checking the fuse; IIRC there are 2 fuses for the power door locks. At the far passenger side of the dashpad check fuses 20 something and 40 something (? Going from old notes. Check these fuses numbers in your service manual or a service manual on-line, but this should get you in the right area). Also there is a second fuse panel behind the passenger side hush panel. Can't find any notes to identify the fuse numbers there but believe there were only either 4 or 6 fuses to have to check.
Have you had the door panels off for anything? If so, double-check that both door lock switches are hooked up. If one is disconnected, typically neither door lock will work from the powered switches.

Best wishes for an easy fix!
Thanks for quick reply. Yes, the key will lock and unlock either door. I do NOT hear a sound when I use the key. I have NOT had the door panels off, YET. I will check the switch wiring as you've suggested. Thanks again!
Regarding the power door lock issue, I apologize, my facts were not correct and not explained properly. I have power to the locks. When I hit the switch the locks ATTEMPT to move but they can't move. So its a linkage problem. I have the passenger side door panel off now and so I've tried cleaning and lubricating the linkages. It'll make it work once or twice, then the linkages pile up again and won't move. With some chagrin and hesitation,I'm thinking about removing the latch assembly, get it out of there and try rework it, rebuild it, see if I can figure out what's going wrong in there. It seems to me the problem is in the latch where all the various rods connect. There's a link to the exterior key lock on the exterior of the door, linkages to the interior door opening handle, the sliding door lock and the door lock actuator. The actuator is working fine, it appears to me, but the rods get all piled up when you hit the door lock switch. If anybody has done this I'd love to hear how they made out or if they know where it piles up at. Thanks.
On 86 power and ground routes through both switches. Probably similar on yours. A bad switch or ground will mess things up. Lube everything up while in the door. I like white lithium grease.
