Default The Original Corvette

This might be a bit off topic, but thought you guys might enjoy seeing what the Corvette was named after.

This is the 'orginal Corvette' and the last ship of its kind in the world. HMCS Sackville, is a WW2 era Canadian Navy Corvette. Small and agile, the corvette's protected Atlantic supply covoys from german U-boats in tough circumstances. HMCS sackville is perminently morred in the splendid Halifax harbor, Nova Scotia, Canada and is open for the public to view for a small donation. (closed during covid-19 crisis)

A little off topic but thought you guys might enjoy see it. The pictures were from my visit in the summer of 2017.

Talking about numbers matching, interestingly, It seemed when I was there the ship was still remarkably complete/functional.

Some museum ships i've been to are sort of just shells, with many parts removed or missing and almost always the weapons are not left in a functional/working state. Not so on this one.
I personally was able to crank the gun around and elevate it, breach still opens etc... just no ammunition of course. I was suprised at how complete it still is and how nice of shape its in.

Even the machine guns seemed like they were in pretty near working shape, no ammunition of course, but otherwise seemingly functional.

I'm sure the 'hedge hog' anti-sumarine weapons proabbly are no longer loaded with explosives but the casings are still in place...

I imagine the depth charges are also empty but the casings are still there...

And of course under the hood here's what powers this 'Corvette':

Might be the world's only steam powered corvette! The propulsion system was rated at 2,750 shaft horsepower.
