So I just put a deposit down on a C4 that's in Minnesota. What are my options for enclosed shipping? Anyone know of any reliable and reasonable carriers? I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
I don't remember the name of the company unfortunately, but back in 2013 I bought a 94 6spd that was not running and had it shipped to Ohio from Massachusetts and it cost me about $800. I thought it was a fair price. It took just over a week to get here after I pad for the shipping. It would have been a little cheaper to ship the car if it were in running condition.
I used a company called Freedom Auto Transport to haul mine from Florida to Delaware. I forget how much I paid them, though. I want to say it was around 700 dollars. Or maybe it was 500 dollars. I just looked at the bill of lading but it doesn't have how much I paid on it.
It was three days from the time they picked it up in Florida til the time they unloaded it from the carrier here in Delaware.
They have mixed reviews, but everything went pretty smooth for me.
how many miles? Cant remember...just dont pick the cheapest most are just brokers anyways.
I used a father/son team uncoverd was 700 for a 1 ton from LA to NJ
I had a 93 convertible shipped from Maryland to Ohio last August. I used this guy, who operates from Texas. Gartho Logistics LLC (903) 375-4000. It cost me $900 because I had it shipped in an enclosed trailer. I didn't want a car over mine on a hauler. He was great to work with and the guy he hired to haul the car was nice to work with too. Car was tied down very good and no damage! But, like someone else said, these guys are just brokers, they hire someone else to actually do the work.
Be careful ,you may call A-one shipper and they might hire someone else to transport it not the people you called and talked to . Shippers use 3ed party's more that people think .it happen to me and said my Corvette would be here in 3-4 days NO two weeks . The 3ed party shipper doped off and picked up stuff all over the country with my Corvette in tow and had stuff parts stacked all around my C-5 Z in the trailer . You have to ask : Who is transporting my Corvette you are someone else ??? Some of the transport people have turned into jobbers they just answer the phone and call whom ever is cheapest to go get it and if its busted up and you call them well you need to call Bob ,we did not transport it and hang up the phone ,it happens to me . Just saying ..
Do not deal with a broker and pay the money for a quality mover. I paid $2000 shipped from Ga to Ca in closed plus an extra $200 to guarantee that the car would go in the front of the truck and not be touched until it got to me. I used Intercity Lines.
Thats is what I was saying . I payed good money for a good shipper and come to find out he handed it off to someone else ,some are not what they seem to be have to do some homework on these guys . Had been transporting Corvettes for years and was getting good results and about 3 -4 years back things changed all of a sudden the same guys I had been dealing with ,when I hung up the phone they were calling the guy down the road the transport my Corvette .. Just saying make sure the people you are talking on the phone are the same people that will be transporting your Corvette .. Lots of the so called big time shippers I have found out its easier to hire a 3ed party to do the job that do it them self ,bottom line dollar deal .. The last shipper out of Houston big time shipper I used ,I'll say the guy that dropped a C-5 I had brought out of NJ. was a Independence hauler 3ed party and he said I work of anybody that gives me a calls and he stays buzzy all the time he said I get calls for all of them .When they don't have anybody available to got get your stuff they call Abdule . It happen to me more than once . Just saying ..
So after waiting for things to open back up I made the trip to Minnesota on the 8th and bought the Corvette on the 9th. Needless to say I want to get it back here ASAP! I was leaning on going with one guy to transport it but he has now busy for a few weeks so I will have to go with someone else/company. I did a few quick quotes a few weeks ago but nothing too detailed. If anyone has anymore links of carriers then please send them my way!
these guys are first class. Jay Leno and the guy from Chasing Classic cars use them. I had a high end car shipped from AZ to Virginia and it was a great experience. It’s expensive but you get what you pay for and it was worth the peace of mind.

Thanks. I checked them out. Intercity was the most expensive so far almost $2000 for 570 miles.
