Selling my 87 MB 560 SL to come back to the vette family. Saw a real nice 95 in Red on ebay. I would very much appreciate if anyone could take a look at this and tell me if you feel this car is worth a max of $17k?
here is the ebay address. (sorry, can't figure out how to post the link correctly) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...yphotohosting.
I live in Long Island and If I am the winning bidder, I would fly up to Buffalo and drive the car home. I will run a car fax on Monday and I'll also call the seller (a dealer) on Monday to get addl info. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
I used to spend my summers in kingspark, NY. Used to play smithtown landing country club all the time.....
I am just judging from the photos but I there dosen't appear to be any paint work or mislaligned panels. Interior looks real nice although Red is not my fav interior on a red car. (even though my 92 is red/red) The car is also an automatic and unless you are gung ho on the auto I would get the 6 speed.
The auto is fast though and it is a good tranny, i just prefer stick myself.
Does the car come with two tops? If it dosen't and that top goes south you are going to have to buy a new one for between $600-$1200.
What is your budget? C4 market is real weak right now. How about a nice 96 CE or 96 Grand Sport?
If you go check out that car, make sure you test drive it and do a compression check. The motor looks ok on that car -- not the greatest but not the worse either - avg I would say..
I agree about the price. However, I would suggest an even lower max.

As someone alluded to already, the used car market is in the tank. Why pay for a car from a dealer (who obviously will sell it for more than the owner sold it to them for), when you can find a better private party deal (unless you need the dealer for financing)? Watch your local papers classified ads, or the AutoTrader, and have the cash ready if the price is right. I'm sure Vettes like this are being sold in the low teens, or even lower. A 1994 Coupe, one owner vette went for $9,000 down here a few weeks ago. I went to buy it, but within 2 hours of the paper coming out, a deposit had been left, and the guy returned a few hours later with the cash. Guess who bought it? That's right, a local small car dealer. He will spritz it up, sink a grand into it, and offer it at a steal of a price. ASKING $22,000, but will come down if needed.
Anyway, good luck on finding a vette, this is the best time to be shopping. Take your time, and be willing to walk away if the deal isn't stacked in your favor.
Wow...lots of good info here. I will take everyone's advice and be careful. I 'll probably wait for an LT-4 to come my way. Everyone I have been speaking to say in this depressed market they are the best bang for the buck.
Thank You all for slowing me down! Steve 123
I've had fellow forum members check out some cars on ebay for me (4) , none were as stated. So I don't even look on ebay now ,hopefully I'll find one here on the forum, good luck Jim.
