well, could be lots of things. first, check if theres some wire or something that got in the way, i had that problem. then see if the motor makes noise. if it does, then probably the gears died. er... maybe an electrical wire came unpluged? just some suggestions ive read other people came across. gl.
If the headlight motor continues to run after you have turned them off (clunk, clunk, clunk) then the bushings in the motor need replacing. MidAmerica $6.00.
The only alignment you have to worry about is the bushing stops. If the stops are set right then everything else is ok. The other day while changing my bulbs out, I normally open and close the light fixtures by using the manual open close **** under the hood. Well after changing one of the bulbs the light was half open so I opened my car door so I could turn the lights on to see if the new bulbs worked. I had forgotten to close the light fixture like the other one was and low and behold both opened up to the same position... I thought with on light opened halfway it would some how open to a different place other than where the fully closed one would open...I know that was a dumbazz thought but I learned that I didn't have to fully close the light fixtures after changing bulbs, all i have to do is turn my lights on and off and they will be set... :yesnod:
My 89 is doing the same thing. However, the 84-87s used a nylon gear to rotate the headlight assembly in contact with the metal worm gear. you can replace with a like nylon gear or replace with an expensive brass gear.
The 88-96s changed their drives and have to replace with bushings to correct their problems.
