Nice....wasnt there a movie on netflix about ford dicking the guy that invented the intermittent wiper system? Guy fought for over 10 yrs, lost everything but in the end won.
The rich either got it doing something real right or real wrong usually the latter.
Good info regarding that pipe. All this time I used to say "This looks like an add-on". I guess I was right all along. I even have an idea to re-route that water line along the driver side firewall-fender and to its original T-connector to make it "invisible".
Regarding lawyers, money, and a-holes... They all are, I still would love to meet the moron who invented the opti-spark.

on paper it's a really good idea to have it there in regards to accurately getting a good ignition signal and spark. in reality it sucks.
I thought it was a good article if all the facts are true. GM did not get where they are today without savvy lawyers and idea borrowing. it just goes to show you when you form a partinership where you are sharing ideas and problem solving to have all your dots dotted and "T" crossed in writing.
Pontiac had reverse cooling prior to the 389 in the 59. They were called gushers because of the tube that when in behind the coolant inlet in the head. Chevrolet was on the verge of litigation when the LT1 was quickly put into production and several thousand Corvettes to cheat the guy using some legal trick. A few years ago some LT1 prototype stuff hit Craigslist, one was a hybrid block that required belt driven water pump. The other without Optispark and missing 3 rod and piston assemblies. They would be more of a novelty, since necessary unique service parts aren't available.
Back in the early 80's I had 389 street rod engine that had the reverse cooling timing cover, water pump and elbows. I bought for the forged steel rods. The guy i got it from talked about it always ran hot and he went to a SBC because of it. I didn't know about the tubes until the internet. I'm sure he didn't, without the tubes the engine would run hot or overheat in a short time. Pontiac had a good run with Knudsen & DeLorean. When DeLorean left for Chevrolet. the new guy steered Pontiac in a different direction.
I always liked Pontiac. After tearing into a few I see where a lot of the ideas on the LS came from. The biggest one being the tighten and go rockers. That was pretty trick compared to setting preload on a SBC.
If you haven't watched the movie Ford vs Ferrari watch it, great movie based on a fair amount of history, but makes you realize the arrogance of Detroit, I wouldn't put it past GM to pull some stunt like this.

Totally, totally, totally.
FvF is a great movie. The movie was almost more about Ken Miles than it was, Shelby. That is an eye opener for me.
