I'm picking up my Vette tomorrow, weather permitting, and it was recommended to have the new paint wetsanded.
What price range should I be looking to pay for a quality job? I know differences in location and shops will determine the price but, I'm looking for a ball park figure. I want to be armed with some information when I venture out.
paint takes 5 to 6 months to completely cure. durring this 6 months the paint will draw up. if you do it to early you will have to do it again. wait till the paint is 6 months old minimum and then get it done. the job should be under $500.

Interesting... you know it's a good day when you learn something new. Thanks for the info.
How long should I wait before I start the Zaino routine?

Thats the best way ,if you can wait that long. Why didnt the painter do it?It typically takes me 8-12 hours to sand and buff one completely flat.Price will depend on how flat/slick you want it,how much texture is there now and if you are going to do the whole car.Usually they will only do everything above the center molding. :yesnod: :seeya
I am assuming they painted it with basecoat/Clearcoat finish? I just finished up painting my '91 last Wed., but I used synthetic enamel with a urethane topcoat. With the enamel/topcoat, it is reday to wet sand (with 2000 grit paper) and buff in 4 - 7 days. Usually in the summer, it will sand in 3 days, but this time of year, (cooler) 7 days is plenty. That's the main reason I prefer enamel over the newer basecoat/clearcoat paints... I am on 12 hour nights this week, but Thanksgiving day has been set aside for me to back the Vette out of the garage and start wetsanding. (I have also highly reccommended my son join me, but I look for him later in the day, as it is supposed to be around 18-20 degrees when I start wetsanding)...but as long as it is flat, smooth and SHINY!!!Good luck!!! :yesnod: :chevy
I have wetsanded and polished cars the next dav after paint. It does sometimes develop a texture in the finish a month or more later but not typically and you can do it again if necessary. As for price, $500 sounds reasonable but i feel you could beat it with a little shoppin around.
