I picked up the mess of a car for free. Its totally roached and missing so many piece as well as damaged fiberglass im going the kart route, figured its better on the road then in the trash. Owner had no real info cause he was clearing out fathers shop (supposedly).
Seems like it could have been a parts car as random things are missing ( i.e. rear spring was inside car but none of the hardware, only one front and rear caliper). Also VIN says 84 but it had some of 91 parts still on it (dash, steering column, spindles). It also has some signs if upgrades like cross drilled rotors and 1 remaining ss brakebrake line, it was also at one point painted a custom (ugly) purple.
As i take inventory of whats missing im finiding its bringing up questions about stock/upgrades to replace missing parts. Like if they upgraded the spindles did they upgrade the rear? If not since it has no rear calipers, can i use 91+ calipers for the rear?
At this point i want to get it back to road worthy on the cheap and eventually upgrade down the road (get rear spring reinstalled instead of jumping straight to coilovers).
No trolling. Frame is good, suspension is good short of a few parts. Why is it too far gone? I looked at it and thought half the work was done, and since it was free i was a head of the game. Going carb for simplicity.
Well....you might pull it off for a decent value. I bought mine* for $2k, I've sold 2k worth of parts off of it, then I spend money on the cage, wheels, seats, and other things. I don't see anything sellable there to help off set costs, and you're down an engine and trans (at least). Good luck though...I'd love to see it come to fruition.

Thanks. You have a great base to start with. I was fortunate enough to find that under all the dirt and grime the carpets were great and so is whe whole dash which cleaned up nice and are currently for sale locally. Also have a 90+ dash to sell once is test it aling with the other switches. So im in the black financially once they sell. Also have a buddy who gave me stock rims and some other bits. Its the smalls that are going to nickel and dime me.
I would suggest deciding on a budget, sit and make a list of what you need, write a plan, and then decide for yourself if this is the right frame to work with.
If this post is indeed for real, all I can say is....you can't be serious? I'm always optimistic for any project car. I've had quite a few myself. But for the one in these pictures, I can't find anything positive to say towards restoring it from the condition it's in. It's just too far gone. I feel bad using the term "junk", but that's what I see. Junk. Sorry O/P. Don't waste your time or money. You'll be better off.
It was? Is? An auto shift car, too. D36. What you've got there that's worth anything is a front K member and suspension that could go in a hot rod, and a frame. That's about it.

Once you sell that stuff, and if you sell that stuff and get your money back, walk away.
You have at least three cars making up pieces.
90-93 dash
94+ steering wheel
94+ headlight switch, AC controller and DIC
Engine cradle for standard SBC 88-91
88+ lower A-arms
92-96 ASR
92-96 Power steering cooler
