Default Fuel issue with 92...

I have a 92 LT1 and while driving home the other day the car just died while accelerating after turning a corner....... I listened for the fuel pump to see if I could hear it and nothing.........so I am thinking the fuel pump went south on me......question is........
Is there a fuse that could have blown causing this?? If so, would it be located in the fuse box or elsewhere on the vehicle ........
If I need to change the fuel pump, is it necessary or recommended to change the sending unit also??
Just wanting opinions before tossing $$$ out for something I might not need.......
I plan to change filters while doing this.......
Thanks
Terry

If your sending unit works, I wouldn't cha ge it. Its super easy to do and get to, so may as well leave it in. It's maybe a 10 minute job.

I would want to check the fuse first, and too bench test the pump to see if it is truly bad. Changing parts as a means of troubleshooting is bad practice - especially when so many parts are made in China*. Chinese parts are, as Forest Gump's mother said: "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get!"

*I had a new pump fail right out of the box! Shoulda bench tested it first, I recon.

You should also replace the sock on the end of the fuel pump. I recently put a small piece of the new Holley Hydra-Mat in my C3 and that stuff is amazing. It is a much more expensive version of the sock that can pull fuel in from far away and other magical tricks.

The other thing I like to do is replace the Fuel Pump Relay to eliminate it from causing problems. Your pump may have been fine and you could have had a fuel pump relay failure which would stop your fuel pump. Don't forget to get the tank top gasket for the assembly re-installation.

How much gas was in your tank? My 96 has always done this since the day it was new if I'm down to next to nothing in gas...like a bar or 2 on the gas gauge.

Thanks for all the info ............ I have not yet worked on it as time is busy till the weekend but have purchased a fuel pump, sock, gasket and filter for the repair..
I do plan to check the fuse and bench test the pump once removed...
The car has a full tank of fuel as I never let it get too low as a general practice....
I have never changed one so it will be a new learning experience on this end.......although I have watched several videos to get myself educated hopefully..........
Thanks again for all the info and feedback..much appreciated
