I live in northern California the San Francisco Bay area. Does anyone know where I can get my wheels refinished and for a reasonable price they are the stock wheels on my 1989 Corvette convertible.
OP - Is the snapshot one of yours OR just an image you 'borrowed'? If yours, is it the worst or best? The polished flange isn't an issue to get machined and restored. The wheel face is a different issue and depends very much on actual condition. You definitely only want to deal with a 'local' vendor.
Thanks for the responses. That is one of my wheels. They are all somewhat the same. I was quoted $185 per wheel to restore them to "new".
Was that 'local'? Today's $$$, material cost, your location and if 'to new' that might be considered reasonable! MIGHT!! Can he provide you with a completed '88, '89 or '90 that he's done?
Just my taste but I don't particularly care for the factory rims. With a little patience you can find a like new set of after market rims for half of the resto cost.

I'd say the OP has 'great taste'!!! Yours maybe I'd consider 'questionable'!!!

They look a lot better than some of the cheap aftermarket 5 spoke knock offs that are made now.
Thanks for the tip. Where can I find airplane stripper
If you have issues with the 'machined face' the DIY likely won't make you happy. If it's only the clear finish or scuffs from a 'tire boy' on the rim edge a DIY will do for you.
Good looking 'vert!!!! OEM's look 'very good'!! Is it an AT A4 or maybe an M6?
Home Depot or Lowes carries it. Just dont scrub it off with anything abrasive.
Gonna do the same then reclear. May not look as good as being blasted and powdercoated but will be 10x better than as is
Yrs ago i left that stuff on too long, used a fine scotchbrite to to get it off and left fine scratches.
Long story short wound up polishing them. Never again.
Thanks guys I appreciate the help and the advice. As for the question it is an automatic, unfortunately. After I bought it I completely redid the entire interior, seats carpeting sound deadening and a new audio. Love the climate control
Here in Huntsville, AL, it was $125 per to recondition mine a few months ago.
Perhaps keep shopping around?
I also cleaned/sprayed the lug nut covers and painted the calipers while the rims were out being worked.

They did a real good job. Only problem I have/see with refinishing the 88-90 wheels, they are actually a welded two piece. So you have that gap going around which definitely makes it tough to clear and protect the finish.
