Default 87 vert c4

Hey guys, I have a chance to buy an 87 Silver C4 vert with 61,000 miles.
It was repainted with all new weatherstripping about 95 and has been garaged ever since with only a couple thousand miles added in that time.
The car is an auto and has a nice looking ground effects kit and BBS wheels with Michelin tires.
It has never been wrecked, I have known the owner of this car since it was almost new.
Do you think $9000 is a good price on this car.
I have been planning on buying a ZR-1 but this sounds to good to pass up knowing the history of the car, the owner and how the car has been treated its whole life.
What do you think?

personally, body kits do more the hurt the pure line of a C4 than help it. To many Corvetteaphiles, the body kit harms value more than helps it.

If you wanted a ZR1 and can afford a ZR1, then get one. They are vastly superior to any base C4. you can get a nice ZR1 for about $20,000.00 to $25,000.00. And in 5 years, it will still be worth nearly that much.

on the other hand, the price seems fair...

but realize a few things... low miles is not always a good thing. The car has sat for a LONG time without proper exersize, as such, seals are beginning to rot. Rubber parts are going bad as we speak. Whoever buys it next will have to deal with that. Also, the car is 15 years old!!

The cleanest cars are going to be expensive when that happens... it will nickle and time you to death for the next 2 years.

Good luck in your decision. It would be better to say no to your friend than have to deal with those issues and spend a couple thousand more to make it right and strain your friendship.

I am not saying the car is a lemon, just don't expect to use it as anything that resembles a daily driver. The car would better suit a person who has a garage and wants to do weekend cruises in it.

If you have the money, buy what you want a ZR1. A good deal and saving money on 87, is only good on you wallet and your settling for less.

My '87 is a blast and it has 63k miles, but they have been consistently put on the car at about 4k per year. Mine is almost stock, which is the way I prefer it. I haven't been driving it everyday, but I'm considering doing that b/c I love the car so much and I hate being so particular about when and where I drive it. I'm ready to enjoy it on a more regular basis.

I agree with the others, if you can afford a ZR-1 then get one!!! But, if this '87 fits into your budget better, I think it will do just right...

I had a 87' vert years ago, and I just recently got a 90' ZR1,

I loved both cars, but if you want a ZR1, go for it.. its worth it!!!
