Default Help needed....Why some head gaskets have extra section?

Newly acquired a 1992 C4 with blown head gasket. Zero experience with American Muscle, so go lightly.... Bought a kit from Rock Auto that includes head bolts (this one).
The gasket that came off (blown between #3 and #5), looked like the one labeld "old" below.
The new one, see below, has a whole new section?
What is the significance of all the extra gasket material on the new gasket? It seems like the new gasket will require the pushrods to go thru holes in the head gasket, which is bizarre to me....Am I *totally* missing something?

Well the new is definitely a LT1 gasket id say.

I do believe the pushrods go through that spot. I've never seen one like that.

So on the LT1 gasket, do the pushrods actually go thru holes in the head gasket, or am I not visually lining things up properly when it looks like that to me?

No clue. I've never been that deep in an lt1 or seen a gasket like that in person. I suppose so though. The pushrods don't really move all that much.

On my LT4 the pushrods do go through the holes on the head gasket.
But those two head gaskets have several differences I would not be comfortable using the new one. It looks like it maybe the wrong one.
Maybe look at a stock GM or FelPro gasket for a 92 LT1 and see if it looks the same as that new one from Rock Auto.

..
To be fair, I pulled those photos from Summit racing website because they showed the extra section of difference, they are not my exact gaskets.
