Default What I did this week

My 93 sat all winter because of the water pump leaking. This week I finally got around to replace it. Very easy job. Replaced the plugs and wires while I was in there. I thought the drivers side looked harder for the plugs but I was wrong. I just used a long extension with a swivel plug socket. What a relief! Then I decided to put my old Hypertech Chip back in that I took out many years ago and added a 160° thermostat. I love how the temp stays under 190° all the time now. Even stopped at long lights. Then I replaced all 4 shocks. What a difference!!! 92k with the FX3 system. The right rear and left front were blown. I went with KYB's. Didn't want to spend a lot($130 for all 4) and I saved all the parts for if and when I decide to sell it. Then I replaced the rear brakes. They looked original too. Fronts look only half worn. I'll do them later.

Next I need to try and stop the squeaking roof and re-glue the rear hatch seal for when I use my hatch vent bracket. The glue disappeared and I don't want it to fly off??? IDK how that happened...

Nice work. How did you manage with the passenger side rear plug? That one about whooped me.

Let's hope the leaking water pump didn't cause corrosion in the opti. Many LT! owners
replace the opti whenever they change the water pump. No big deal.

I understand your desire to have your temps less than 190, but your LT1 is designed to run hotter.
Not only to reduce emissions, but to help with a more complete combustion.

The reason plugs needed replacement your running them at a cooler temp then designed for.

I didn't find it too bad. Swivel ratchet. It did suck tho.

With the water pump being so easy to take off, it's not a problem doing it again. I was told by many to not touch the opti unless it's giving me a problem.

It's running better than it ever has. It really must have needed those plugs and wires. I bet those plugs were original too. I know the wires were.

20* below stock coolant temp won't hurt the plugs. Its more the 92,000 miles on the LT1 plugs that is the reason to change them..
