Default Front spoiler question

Any one here know if the Z51 optioned 1996 Corvettes required a lower front spoiler? Read once that a NCRS judge gigged an owner of that year Corvette which had the Z51 handling package for having the wrong spoiler on.

That’s an interesting question. I suspect that there were two different heights in the early C4s but I haven’t been able o confirm conclusively.

Nope. Not from what I can tell. Mine looks just like everyone else's does. I can't go measure it today. Today is our 25th anniversary, so I am spending the day doing what my wife wants to do. I am not going to repeat the oops of the 20th, when I was halfway to Nebraska and she asked me if I knew what day it was.

If you remind me, I will measure the spoiler the next sunny day. Which, according to the weather, is tomorrow. So unless someone else has a '96 Z51 car to measure today, put a reminder post up tomorrow morning and I will get notified by email that there was an update and remind me to go measure it for you.

Just got home. Measured the side piece, adjacent to the center opening,

3". (three inches).

If you look at Mid America's site, you can see that they offer a different spoiler for the Z51 cars up through 1990, and one size through '96.

Evidently that judge didn't know Corvettes as well as he was blowing smoke that he knew.

Not the first, nor the last time NCRS will get something wrong.
